Death Talk EZ Life
There will be a free community talk next week on "Overcoming the Fear of Death."
Author and International Speaker Kelvin Chin is the Executive Director and Founder of the Overcoming the Fear of Death Foundation and Turning Within Foundation.
"I help people reduce and eliminate their fears about death or dying through whatever beliefs system they have. So they may have any number of either religious or spiritual or cultural belief systems about death or dying. They may be an atheist from a religious standpoint, it doesn't matter to me. I look through their lens, can I help them reduce their fear? Because the whole point of what I do and what my foundation's work is focused on is helping people live more in the present."
He says fear isn't good for us.
"I think it's very important for people to overcome their fear of death because what does fear do? It drains us, it contracts the mind, it contracts the body. It kicks in the 'fight or flight' response, causes anxiety, cortisol increases in the blood stream, lactic acid all sorts of things in large quantities that in the blood, in the muscles, and in the tissues is not healthy for us. So fear kicks all this in, it limits our creativity and our ability to enjoy life."
The Free Event is from 7:30 to 9, July 27th at the Kootenay Bakery Cafe.
Information is online www.overcomingthefearofdeath.org
The Kootenay Society for Lifelong Learning is also sponsoring the event.
